I think from LA perhaps as that will be past the roughest spots.

Yeah I know. I'm trying to figure out how it will all work because a bunch of people want to go all of a sudden. Media is good my friend.
Am planning to go to a beautiful bay on Catalina island off LA in the meantime. I can go in to Newport to get some rigging that I need as well as invite a few gypsies out for a shindig on a beautiful island. Ferry tickets from long beach are 60 bucks round trip so that's probably doable for mose folks..

Moby is used to the ocean swells, should be a fun roller coaster ride if there are decent sized swells...but wonderful warm weather at the other end...take dramamine (or something like it) and don't hang from the rails with your fingertips...could be slippery in the salt air:)
